His Excellency and I spent much longer together than I typically spend with books (2 weeks!) but I'm so glad to have read the book. In the biography His Excellency: George Washington, historian Joseph Ellis recounts Washington's first combat experience. Two 2004 biographies are definitely worth your time: Joseph P. Ellis' His Excellency: George Washington and James MacGregor Burns and Susan Dunn's George Washington (The American Presidents series). Yes, Reader Friends, I finally finished it. The wine was intended “for his Excellency General Washington,” and according to the notation at the bottom of the manuscript, it was delivered to Washington's headquarters the next day and signed for by Col. His Excellency: George Washington Documentary Excellent interview and very well informed discussion of the life and complex motives of the principal founding father of the United States, George Washington. Great biography of Washington, but weak on religion.
